Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness. Early detection and treatment are essential for the preservation of vision. During the past 20 years, ongoing glaucoma research has attempted to unravel the many questions and improve the way that eye care professionals address the wide spectrum of problems encountered in the management of glaucoma. The South East Asia Glaucoma Interest Group meeting provided the opportunity for research scientists, education practitioners, and health care professionals to come together and share their knowledge and experiences of glaucoma. With a renowned international faculty, the meeting provided unique opportunities for delegates to discuss the latest advances in glaucoma diagnosis and management. By increasing awareness and knowledge of glaucoma across the Asia-Pacific region, the problems distinctive to this region may be overcome.
