It is with great pleasure we invite you to the SEAGIG 2004 Conference in Kuala Lumpur. This meeting, carefully prepared by our Malaysian Organizing Committee chaired by Dr Mrs Gomathy Arumugam and Professor Dr Ropilah Abdul Rahman, promises excellent educational opportunities to familiarise yourself with the latest advances in glaucoma diagnosis and management in a friendly environment.

With a renowed international faculty from our region as well as worldwide, Symposia, International Courses, Keynote Addresses and Free paper sessions will impart scientific knowledge and skills in an interactive and entertaining manner.

As well, this meeting offers us the chance to meet with new and old friends or forge lasting professionals relationships. Collaboration and cooperation in patient and community care, research projects and teaching endeavours are sure to follow close behind.

Having launched in late 2003 our Asia Pacific Glaucoma Guidelines, we can now discuss these face to face, and their practical applications in our communities, our hospitals and universities, and our practices.

Please do come along and join us for this special conference in Malaysia!

Message from the Organizing Chairperson

Malaysia has been given the honour to host the South East Asia Glaucoma Interest Group (SEAGIG) meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 26th August to 28th August 2004 and I invite our colleagues from the region and around to please consider attending.

Malaysia will be celebrating its 47th Merdeka Day (our independence day) on 31st August so Kuala Lumpur, our capital city will be a veritable fairy land with decorations and lights. Come and rejoice with us and experience the unique Malaysian hospitality that all out visitors enjoy. August is also the month when the whole of Malaysia is on 'Sale' or take an interesting and fascinating holiday in our many sight-seeing spots while enjoying the varied gastronomical delights that Malaysia has to offer before or after the meeting.

Glaucoma is a disease for which research is ongoing to unravel the many unanswered questions as well as improve the way we address the wide spectrum of problems we encounter. In the meantime let us meet at SEAGIG 2004 and share our experience so that in the charming city of Kuala Lumpur with its ever changing face, we can renew old friendships, make new ones and at the same time participate in a forum where ophthalmologists from Asia meet and discuss problems so peculiar to regions.

The organizing committee has planned an exciting programme and we look forward to wishing all "Selamat Datang" to Malaysia!

Gomathy Arumugam
Organizing Chairperson
